It’s been a while since I posted but not because things have been slow.   I’ve been hard at work on several new projects.  I hope you’ll be as excited as I am to see all the changes.

Science Communication work

I was recently offered a part-time job doing science communication with the University of Arizona Cancer Center. I’ve been writing articles, organizing and shooting video interviews, and creating graphics. All of this is exciting. I feel like I’m putting all my expertise to use. Better yet, I’m working with some cool people who are very good at what they do. Because of that, I’m learning a lot.

My first big project with them was creating a series of graphics about immunotherapy for the donor newsletter.  I’ve also written an article and helped produce a video promo of our interviews with the experts.  I’ll be sharing those as soon as they’re public.

New website

I’ve been working on a redesign of my website, specifically to consolidate all my branding. My information, blog, and a shop will all be in one place, which should make things more coherent for users while also showcasing my talents better.

The new design is up, and the shop will be coming soon.

New content

I’d like to move into doing more content that directly discusses basic scientific principles and the latest research. I’ve begun my path towards that goal.

Today’s Science Word

I’ve started posting “Today’s Science Word” on social media.  These images, like the one below, are meant to just give some quick insight into jargon that is used in science.  This is just one of several upcoming projects that I’m doing to build up a portfolio of work.

Animated Videos

Recently, I’ve challenged myself to learn digital animation. In the past, I’ve only ever done frame-by-frame animation such as what you might see in a flipbook. Now, animating is so much easier, and I’ve set a goal to create a few animated videos.

Plans for the future

My future feels wide open, and I’m trying to create opportunities for myself. My goal is to share my unique perspective with the world by combining science and storytelling.
