Diverse Science Fantasy Adventure
Octavian is a graduate student at one of the world’s top magic universities, and the day has finally arrived to activate his research project: Replika, the most advanced robot ever built. Instead of a day of celebration, activating her sets off a trap that sends both Octavian and Replika to an alternate reality with no way home.
The Tales of a Vernian Youth series is about diverse characters exploring unique worlds where they learn about magic, friendship, and OPP (other people’s problems). Meet the Characters
Replika
Replika may look like a cute human, but she’s actually a cute, ultra-sophisticated robot. Her hallmark is her power core, which runs on a self-regenerating supply of magic. She’s strong, great at doing calculations, and loves to make up little songs to hum to herself.
Replika identifies as androgyne.
Octavian
Octavian is a magician with big ambitions. He wanted to change people’s mindsets and the whole categorization of magical disciplines. Then, his graduate research mentor trapped him and Replika in an alternate reality. Maybe he deserves to be a little grumpy.
Octavian is a transman and identifies as male.

Octavian’s magical ability is tied to understanding the workings of nature. He must understand the science to do the magic.
He is a graduate student at a top magic university, after having double majored in Life Science Magic and Magical Engineering.
As he experiences and studies, his magical ability grows.
Mysterious Mentor
Octavian’s graduate research advisor is one of the most powerful and enigmatic magicians in the world.
Known only as Teacher, he is the mastermind behind Replika. He’s also got a major attitude problem.

Diversity
Diversity is ingrained in every facet of Tales of a Vernian Youth. Replika identifies as androgyne, and Octavian is a transman.
The author is a queer, transgender, neurodivergent person with a disability. Octavian and Replika travel to many different worlds, which creates unique opportunities to meet a wide variety of characters from many species and a range of personal histories.
